Only a few violins made by Aloysius Bodeni are known. On some of his labels he calls himself an amateur violin maker and Venetian! We don’t know where he learnt his craft, but this violin is really exciting and shows similarities with Matteo Goffriller, which was his inspiration, and perhaps where he worked at the start of the 18th-century.
The violin’s top is made of excellent wood, and the varnish is also very fine. It has a gorgeous deep and rich sound.
